Déjà Vu

In a surprise move, Fox announced that it will debut Joss Whedon’s much-anticipated but troubled SF series Dollhouse in a problematic Friday-night timeslot on Feb. 13, 2009...

How exactly is this supposed to be a surprise? The only reason I didn’t laugh out loud reading that sentence was because I was too damn depressed. I saw this coming from the moment I heard that Whedon’s new project was airing on Fox. He may be an excellent writer, but he’s a really poor judge of corporate character. Didn’t he learn anything after they cancelled Firefly?

I predict that Dollhouse lasts for eight episodes. And it’ll be replaced by some dreck like My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé: The Revenge. (I’d love to be proven wrong, of course, and I look forward to watching this show. But really, how can I get my hopes up when it’s on Fox?)
