Site Updates: 2022 Archives

I’ve been posting to Twitter for 14 years, but the time has come for me to move on. I’ve summarized my somewhat-scattered thoughts in a blog post. All links to my old Twitter profile have been removed and replaced with links to my new Mastodon account.

Time for another small update to the starship comparison charts, with some updated ship images, plus some new ships from the movie Interstellar and the series For All Mankind.
(If you’re not watching For All Mankind, you really should. It’s amazing!)

Who doesn’t love a good meme? I’ve pulled together a few of the Star Trek memes I’ve made over the past few years. Some were posted to Twitter, some just shared with friends. (I’d like to think they’re all funny.)

The cross-series starship comparison charts have been given a complete overhaul. I tried to find newer, higher-resolution images wherever possible, and took the time to provide links to document the source of the sizes I used (if available). I also made a few tweaks to the Star Trek charts as well. (One notable change was a ship, previously marked as non-canon, that got to have its badge removed thanks to Picard!)
Fun fact: There are 926 ships in my comparison charts, and 598 of them are from Star Trek (86 of them non-canon). That’s... quite a bit more than I thought.

After many years and several false starts, I’ve finally made some good progress on actually documenting the sizes and images listed in my starship comparison charts. Check out the reference tables for the Star Trek ships. (The other charts to come... later.)

I made a few more adjustments to the starship comparison charts. The large-scale chart now includes many space stations so they can appear at a more visible size than on the huge-scale chart.

Happy First Contact Day! Here’s a big refresh of my Star Trek ship comparison charts.
How about that big fleet we saw in the first episode of this season’s Picard? There were so many new ships that I literally ran out of room on the chart. So I started by resizing the canvas and rearranging the ships—for all my Star Trek charts. I decided it was time to merge the Discovery ships in with the rest of the fleet. And while I was at it, I searched for some updated images and double-checked old references. I also discovered that my charts may have caused some confusion between canon and non-canon ships (oops), so I created a little badge to mark the just-as-cool-but-not-canon designs.
Finally, since Prodigy referenced a few Rules of Acquisition (though no new ones, sadly), I’ve taken the opportunity to make sure the citations were all up to date.
